Chances are, this unofficial The Legend of Zelda movie is way better than the official Super Mario Bros. movie.

News Blips:

Hero of Time

Zelda fans looking to find the independently made The Legend of Zelda movie, The Hero of Time, will find it difficult locating the film online. Independent film studio BMB Finishes reached an agreement with Nintendo to take the movie down in order to protect the video game publisher's intellectual property. Previously the film was available for free online viewing up until the end of 2009. You know what still is available for free online viewing though? The crappy Zelda cartoon from the '90s! [Joystiq]

A patent filed by Microsoft Research details a controller-free computer input mechanism that uses EMG muscle sensors to detect hand gestures. The suggested control scheme involves placing the sensors on the human forearm which in turn would be able to detect hand movements. Doesn't this remind you of the Power Glove...minus the glove? [Engadget]

Authorities were able to locate and apprehend a fugitive drug dealer via his World of Warcraft account and addiction. Detective Matt Roberson learned of the Indiana man's WOW habit, subpoenaed Activision Blizzard for his account details, and in turn found the dealer in Ottawa, Canada. Instead of selling illegal addictive substances, would it not have been smarter for this guy to go the straight route and push addictive MMOs? [GamePolitics]

Starting today, the Guinness World Records 2010 Gamer's Edition is available in stores and has all sorts of "video game records, facts, trivia, and new developments." This edition, the third in the series, ranked Halo over the Legend of Zelda as the Most Popular Video Game Series of All Time. Now, with this book, you too can start all sorts of interesting, video-game-related conversations at dinner parties. [PR Newswire]

Too bad for the guys who worked on that Zelda movie, but that's not surprising at all....

My thoughts, exactly. Has anyone here actually seen it?

I saw it. It was an amazing accomplishment, but the cameraman was insane. The story was way too close to Ocarina of Time for it's own good, which really hurt it.

As much as I'd like to give my respect to people who do things like make fan movies, I couldn't watch the trailer for The Hero of Time without laughing. Honestly, some stories aren't meant to be translated from one medium to another, especially ones that haven't changed much from their 8-bit predecessors.

The fan-made Zelda film still exists online, as does everything else made illegal.

After watching the film, I find it hard to agree with you, Alejandro. That still image is probably one of the three best parts of that movie. Also -- I don't know how quickly they thought it was going (away), but I just watched the entire thing last night. Stroke of luck, perhaps?
