Screenshots serve an important function for conveying the look of a video game, but for readers to understand the context of the screens captured, those images need captions. Last month's Bitmob Writing Challenge, Picture Text, asked community members to create three different captions. The first was a Twitter-style short caption under 140 characters. Then the Bitmobbers wrote a long-form caption explaining the screenshot in under 100 words. Finally, they had to write a 500-word description on just that picture.

The following writers took the challenge and made the most out of one image. As I mentioned at the beginning of this challenge, I am only including the 180-character captions below. Just as in a magazine, these descriptions should grab your attention and make you want to read the original stories.

These two Elites were right in the path of my rocket before a perfectly timed side step.

Wisps are cute, marketable creatures that make Sonic Colors a better game. I'm serious.

Thanks to everyone who participated. If I missed your entry, please let me know in the comments.  Jeremy Signor will be handling this month's challenge, Gamers' History.  If you've been holding off your chronicle of fan efforts to get a sequel for Chrono Trigger, now you have no excuses.
