Puzzler: Identify the video-game robots

The end of the world is coming, and of all the possible ways it can go down (asteroid impact, zombies, alien invasion, Lady Gaga, etc.), my money is on a robot apocalypse.

Technology is rapidly advancing, blurring the lines between science and wizardry. Video games have been trying to tell us something for decades: machines will one day bring the smackdown on humans...and it will taste like battery acid.

Here are some mechanical devils that will soon turn on you. Do you remember which titles they belong to?

I think #3 is a fly...copter...thing.

How could you dislike a singing robot? He has metal joints. Beat him up and earn 15 silver points!

Oh, OK. I was thinking of  the first one for NES, not the Arcade one. That one had bizarre sprites.

6 out of 10. Dang, I missed out on some of them. I really should have gotten #6 and #7. #6 still creeps me out. I forgot what it does when I fight it.

#5 is so freaking awesome. It never did anything, but it was still awesome. That section was my absolute favorite part of Super Metroid.

#5 reminds me of Star Wars' Gonk. Basically a walking trash can. I think Samus could step on it and get a free ride.

#9 was bad, but the final boss was worse. Man, I still wonder what Sega was thinking when they made him.

And that ending almost made the second half of Michael Jackson's career look like child's play. Get it? Child's play? Phshaw...

I think #9 is doing the "thriller." The Genesis port's robo MJ looked totally different.

Number 10 is the boss from the first game's Zone D. The robot cat is from the sequel. I had forgotten about that cat.
