Gunstar HeroesThe Community Spotlight highlights some of the best articles that didn't quite make the front page. This week, we embrace the insane names of the bosses in Gunstar Heroes, explore the Mega Man X series, ask for iOS gaming suggestions, and examine voice acting in modern role-playing games. Join us. Or Melon Bread will eat you.

A tribute to the oddly-named bosses of Gunstar Heroes
By Joe Walker
Ah, Treasure. The much-beloved development studio has come up with some crazy concepts over the years, but Gunstar Heroes' enemies might take the cake. I think I can actually hear myself losing my sanity when I look at them.

Mega Man X9: Where art thou?
By Brandon Guerrie
I adore the 8-bit Mega Man titles, but my knowledge of the Mega Man X series is limited. Fortunately, Brandon's here to break down (and grade!) each of the entries for us. He also makes an impassioned plea for a 16-bit X revival, similar to Mega Man 9

Dear iPhone gaming enthusiasts: What are you playing?
By Eric Koziol
iOS devices are great for small chunks of portable gaming, but Eric's looking for something more. "I really want to know what you are playing on the iPhone that scratches the itch once scratched by the DS and the PSP," he writes. What say you, noble Bitmobbers?

Replay value and the modern gamer
By Benjamin Troyer
If you think "replay value" means "multiplayer," Benjamin's got a bone to pick with you. He argues that developers tack on multiplayer modes instead of focusing on a better single-player experience -- something worth replaying. Hey, I just finished Vampire: The Masquerade -- Bloodlines for like the fourth time, so I'm right there with him.

The Warden talks
By Lloyd Markham
"If you direct a whole lot of your resources into voice acting, something’s got to give elsewhere," Lloyd writes. He's got a point. Since the acting in games isn't all that great anyway, I often find myself skipping past it. If that's what developers are hanging their hats on at the expense of other things...we might be in trouble.

Thanks for the post. Layton, you said your knowledge of X was limited. Have you played them all or just a couple? Just wondering (not to bash).

I actually think the only real experience I've had with X is the original SNES game. I'm sure I've played one or two of the others, but the first is the only one I really remember. Played some of the Zero games on GBA as well.
