The Community Spotlight highlights some of the best articles that didn't quite make the front page. This week, we honor some unique heroes, discuss the meaning of "mature," battle with an aging Charmander, and banter with royalty.

Classic games I'd like to see rebooted for next-gen consoles
By Dwayne Lowe
Like Jeff Rivera in last week's Spotlight, Dwayne is jonesing for updated versions of old favorites. (Well, if you can call Battletoads a favorite.) He makes a great call on Snatcher, though -- I need to play that game in some form. And I'm not buying a Sega CD. Ever.

5 underrated protagonists
By Siri Karri
Poor Luigi. He never gets his due. Then again, his only solo affairs involved vacuuming ghosts and answering geography questions. But he's on Siri's list, along with Raz from Psychonauts, Max Payne from, er, Max Payne, and others. (Hail to the king, baby.)

An open letter regarding Mature-rated games
By Nathan Schmidt
Nathan's sick of the usual juvenile shenanigans that pass for "mature" these days. He understands that the term means more than boobs and gore -- it means deeper, more complex, more adult concepts and conflicts. I'm with him. The days of games-as-shock-value should be behind us.

How a story can save a game
By Scott Deakin
The balance between interactivity and narrative has always been a delicate one. The best experiences in gaming use these two aspects to augment one another. Scott points to the rebooted Prince of Persia as a good example. He describes how his connection to the Prince and sorceress counterpart Elika changed his outlook on the gameplay. Good stuff.

Like no one ever was: A Pokémon story
By Eddy Fettig
What would a Pokémon battle look like from the eyes of a Charmander? And what if that Charmander was middle-aged, battle-scarred, and deeply introspective? That's what Eddy has created in this piece -- an examination of why we fight and the inevitability of age. Check it out.
