Jasmine M. Rea did the spotlight for October 3rd and posted a great picture of a clown.  As you know I am not a fan of the Left 4 Dead Series and disappointed that this great picture was used for it.  How ever it gives us something to talk about in this Discussion though.

Many of us follow games and trends like zombies which seems to be all the hype right now.  Well like the title says it is about Clowns, Carnies & Circus which I really don't see in many games.  They may be an area or the game, but the game is not centered around it truely.

As an adventure/rpg type of person this landscape of a circus could be wonders if used in the right application for a game.  Other then that arcade shooter that came out years ago which was all right till Time Crisis took the stage.

I would love to see a full retail game based on Clowns, Carnies & Circus stuff, but it would need to be made good though.  For now the closest thing that anyone gets is an XNA Community game that has loads of awards, but it is a cool platformer many should try even if it is a demo.

So what are your thoughts if someone was to make a game from Clowns, Carnies & Circus?

Maybe survival-horror would work? Honestly, I've never really thought about it, but I'm sure someone could do them all justice.

I guess I am not into that genre that I just would not care for it. :) Glad I could make you ponder about it for a moment.

I've always thought that a theme park or carnival game could work. Rather than just lame mini games, entire fleshed out levels could be included for each of the rides or themed 'lands'.
And I think Cosmo is right, survival horror would be the way to go. Fighting zombies in the Disneyland haunted house FTW. Maybe we could write a letter to Warren Spector?

@Tommy I hope HBO does not turn that into a game. I want something new and fresh :)

I would like to see a carnival game simply for the colors and art that go naturally with it. Perhaps Nintendo can make one for the Wii and make a smell-peripheral that allows the player to smell a carnival!!!

The first thing that popped into my mind when I read this was something along the lines of what Cosmo was saying. A survival horror. Make some crazy clown controlling a bloody carnival. Nothing like the juxtapose of a happy, kid friendly circus with blood splattered over the walls to set the mood.

@Tommy- Speaking of which, when the hell did people start to associate clowns with evil and serial killers? I never understood how that got started.

John Wayne Gacy? Stephen King's "It"? Punch and Judy? Dunno, They've always creeped me out.

i was thinking about this and something in the theme of Something Wicked This Way Comes would be a wonderful jumping off point for something psychological and suspenseful over straight up horror.

This mixed with Carnivale could turn into an rpg of sorts.
