Field Week Writing Challenge - The Collected Works?/ Next Month's Writing Challenge

Well, this didn’t go as planned. The only submission for the Bitmob/1UP Field Week prompt - Extended Commentary - was my example

Maybe posting this prompt at the same time as Michael Rousseau’s Fog of War challenge, Andrew Hiscock’s walkthrough call-out, and the other Field Week activities was game-writing overkill. Or maybe asking people to expand the comments they made for other web sites was a bad fit for new writers.  Or maybe I should have been a better editor and made sure that the link to my example was working correctly.   In any case, I thank Alex Cronk-Young for inviting me to participate in Field Week.

However, next month is my turn for the Bitmob Writing Challenge, and while I have an idea for next month, a writing prompt is a terrible thing to waste. Since this site is for the people, and there always seems to be people who only learn about the contest after it's over, I'll leave it to my fellow Bitmobbers to determine Extended Commentary's fate.

Usually at least seven people submit stories for the writing challenge each month, so if seven people comment on this article saying that they want to do this prompt by May 31st, I’ll make Extended Commentary the June Bitmob Writing Challenge.  If not, no worries. Don't be afraid to post any criticism or changes you would like for the challenge.

 The challenge requirements were:

1. Find a comment you did for Bitmob, 1UP, or any other site.

2. Write a 200-500 word article expanding that comment and fine-tuning it into a professional piece.

3. Include a second page that has the original comment, a link to the article or topic it came from, and any other relevant posts. You can use as much or as little of the comment as you want, but you NEED an actual comment to base this off of.

NOTE: I might increase the word count to the usual 500-800 words that's usually used for the writing challenge.

The fate of a prompt about expanding web-site comments now depends on people posting web-site comments. Post now!

I was so busy during Field Week doing my own events, as was Cosmo, to have time for this. I'll try and get one in!
