Happy Thanksgiving! (What Are You Thankful for?)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Except for those of you in Canada who cheated and gave thanks earlier in the year, prematurely.

In next week's Mobcast, we discuss what we're most thankful for as far as gaming goes (me: wireless technology...specifically untethered controllers).

How about you? Big or small (small's probably funnier), what are you most thankful for? Don't give us any cheesy nonsense about your family, health, etc. We're talking about gaming here!

Please comment below and enjoy the long weekend.

I am very thankful for the inception of digital distribution on consoles through XBLA, PSN, and WiiWare.  We've had some incredible games release across all three of those platforms, many of which I don't think would have seen the light of the day - or received the attention they deserve - if the platform didn't exist.

Bryan: Totally agree! We talk a lot about that on the next Mobcast. That has changed the face of the industry completely!

I'm thankful I finally got freelance work.

Actually, I'm thankful to Bitmob for helping me build a portfolio, develop my writing, and just generally being a supportive, awesome community.

And before you yell at me, that is totally gaming-related. :-P

I'm thankful my brother taped me the Thanksgiving episode of Megas XLR. Always brings a smile to my face.

And of course I'm thankful to be able to work for this website.

I'm thankful that developers and publishers realize that there's still a market for quality and original 2D platformers.

Thankful for:

Auto-targeting in Red Dead Redemption

Super Meat Boy's fantastic jump

The latest Harry Potter flick staying nearly to the book (not thankful for the alleged shitty game though)

And this piece of coffee cake

I'm thankful for all the people who are sticking with us during our growing pains! :-) I promise relief is on the way.

I'm thankful for Steam sales. Financially I'm in the gutter right now, but browsing over the 60 or so games I haven't even played, I know I won't grow bored any time soon.

I am thankful for the moment I finally beat something that is making me want to tear my hair out and smash my controller against the wall, because in that moment I am as happy as can be that I will be able to say I did it...and will never have to do it again. Hey guys, you know that trinket in VVVVVV on the screen titled "Doing Things the Hard Way?" I got that. Took me like 3 hours of trying non-stop, but I got it. Are you proud of me?

I'm thankful for VATS and spike strips, jetpacks and Little Sisters, portal guns, gravity guns, and switches that change gravity. It's also nice that Gran Turismo finally came out, so now Chris Roper won't have to softly cry himself to sleep anymore.

I'm thankful for the 1 year-ish anniversary of Tony Hawk: Ride. That was a pretty hilarious week when it came out,  what with the critics trashing it, how many units it sold, and Tony Hawk himself telling professional journalists that they have no idea what they're talking about.

That was good. Really good.

I'm also thankful for Portal 2, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Brink, Rage, and BioShock: Infinite (just to name a few) for reassuring me that there is hope on the horizon.

I'm thankful for friends who lend me video games for the Holiday Break, when I'm no longer allowed to buy them :-)

I'm thankful for 3D Dot Game Heroes. Not only because I love that this title was released at all, but nothing's more appropriate during Thanksgiving weekend than a "comfort" game.
