(So as a quick disclaimer I'm going to try to post random late night thoughts just to help get myself used to writing things on the internet. These are not meant to be in depth articles on game design or culture (some of which I've written on paper) more so just some practice.)
So PAX was crazy amazing and awesome. I rolled around a lot, saw some awesome panels, played really cool games, and chatted it up with fantastic people. But aside from all that I played a game Sunday afternoon that was probably the most fun I've had at a PAX (it was my fourth). I'm not sure what it was called, at first it was Kung Fu but then someone said Ninja something. It was mildly confusing and unimportant. Describing the game is really hard with just words (much easier to just show someone) but I'll give it a shot. (And several people took pictures so if that was you or you have seen them let me know)
So to play Kung Fu you only need a group of peole. The goal is to hit someone's hand with your own. Which if you do they are out for the rest of the game. It plays out in a turn based fashion, starting in a circle and going to the left, where you can only move when it's your turn or are attacked. And you can only move about one step. That's pretty much it, sounds simple (which it is) but it gets pretty in depth with mind games being played and taking up defense and quick turns going off in a row to catch someone unaware. (Also the original setup is the order in which the turns are taken, it gets a little hectic after a few turns)
And just to further explain for a moment, then you swipe at someone's hand and they move theirs (or they don't move and you get them out), you have to keep you arm extended, waiting for a moment in which you are allowed to move again. Sometimes you end up in strange and uncomfortable stances.
Perhaps someone knows what I'm talking about and is more familiar with it (this was my first experience with this game) but man it rocked my world. Ok that and the videogame Outland was amazing. That's all I got. The end.
