News Blips: PS2 games on PSN, Skyward Sword orchestrated, Ghost Recon: Future Solider dated, and more

Bloody Roar is in today’s Blips. I hope I get to write something about War Gods next time...and then Bio F.R.E.A.K.S. after that! How about Mace: The Dark Age? A sequel to Clayfighter 63 1/3 would be excellent. Dark Rift. Primal Rage. Fighter’s Destiny.

Sony will begin releasing PlayStation 2 games on the PlayStation Network. For about $10, PS3 owners will be able to purchase PS2 titles such as God Hand, Maximo: Ghosts to Glory, Ring of Red, GrimGrimoire, or Odin Sphere tomorrow, October 4. I was under the impression that software emulation of PS2 games wasn’t something the PS3 could easily handle -- and maybe it isn’t, based on the odd (but decent) selection of titles to break PSN’s PS2 seal. Now, what if I already own God Hand and try sliding it in the Bluray receptacle? Will I get a message reading, “Error: 8011E434 - This is technically possible, but it would be a lot easier if you just bought the game again for $10”?

The music in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be fully orchestrated. While most Zelda games have memorable scores, not a single one has had the full dramatic might of a symphony orchestra...until now, that is. Nintendo confirmed its upcoming Wii game won’t suffer from the digitized harmonies of Zeldas past. Although, knowing Nintendo fans, this change will bring out a heretofore unheard from population of crazed individuals who just can’t get enough of those sweet MIDI tunes. [Joystiq]

Ubisoft schedules Ghost Recon: Future Solider for a March 6 release. With big names like Battlefield and Call of Duty crowding out other competitors this Fall, it is probably wise for the French publisher to release its premiere shooter late into the first quarter of 2012. By then, most people will be sick of the modern warfare and it’ll be time for the future. A beta for the Tom Clancy title will drop in January on PC, Xbox 360, and PS3. Do you think that they'll have hover boards and self-lacing shoes as perks in this one? [Joystiq]

Despite rumors to the contrary, Bloody Roar 5 is not in the works. A lot of strange things are a reality...like fried ice cream. Bloody Roar 5, however, can be safely filed under “completely fictional.” Earlier today a fake Twitter feed spoofing the official Hudson account announced the faux game, which prompted the real company to declare the whole thing a hoax. I feel really bad for the eight of you that got your hopes up for more werewolf fisticuffs (clawicuffs?). Don’t hesitate to join the Mega Man Legends 3 fan support group which meets at your local Lutheran church just after the “People Suffering from an Earthbound Games Deficiency” meeting lets out. I imagine that it's like the Xbox360's backward compatibility. They may have had to make alterations to the game code to make it work. Either that, or they have to fully test them before they say they'll work with the newer Graphics Synth free PS3s, and that testing isn't free.

Hm, that is some pretty excellent insight. Still, I don't think there are any Xbox games you can download on the 360 that can't be played with the original disc.

That's actually not true. Many of the less popular titles are not backwards compatible with an Xbox 360. Most of them are now somewhat outdated, so it shouldn't matter too much. However, I got a little upset when I couldn't play Dead or Alive: Beach Volleyball on my 360.

Just a little upset. I don't miss that game too much. Heck, I don't even want to remember it.

Well, that is a bummer, but it wasn't what I meant. I was saying that all of the games in the Xbox Originals section of Xbox Live Marketplace can be played on the system if you have the disc. Owners of the original game don't have to download it again. They can just pop the disc in.

At least... I thought.

Oh yeah, I get what you mean. In fact, I should probably look for the disc of GTA: San Andreas, because the frame rate on the downloadable version is somewhat choppy.

And yeah, DOAXBV. That game is just horrible. I liked the opening movie, but everything else had hideous controls and a very steep difficulty level. The casino games were great, but that was about it.

I can't believe I bought into their promotion of hot girls with jiggly boobs. It's a trap...
