An Arkham Horror is a creature so terrifying, it could render one insane just by gazing at it -- it's like Medusa, only "crazy" instead of "stone." I'm not, however, referring to the Joker, Scarecrow, or anything Batman (even though an "Arkham Asylum" is involved).
Arkham Horror is a cooperative board game by Fantasy Flight Games that could be mistaken for a video game: You pick characters (investigators), have health/inventory/skills, shop for items and spells, explore a city that's slowly being overrun with otherworldly monsters...and if your team can't keep up, you will all have to take on an Ancient One in a final, desperate battle -- a boss fight, if you will.
Some of us Bitmobbers play Arkham Horror on a semi-regular basis. We've literally had six-hour play sessions culminating in an emotional beat-down at the hands and tentacles of a bastard Ancient One. These monstrous beasts are not easy to defeat.
Imagine our surprise when we found help on Fantasy Flight's support page in the form of these new investigators: Gabe and Tycho from Penny Arcade. See their character cards after the jump.
A maximum Fight of 7 along with +2 to all Combat checks equals one powerful investigator. But since Tycho won't let Gabe handle any weapons, he's still a bit handicapped. The stained, crinkly paper isn't because the Penny Arcade guys are pigs, by the way. It fits the same design as the investigator cards in the real game.
Tycho seems a little wimpy with relatively low stats and a Rational Man skill that lets him play it safe. But a powerful Tommy Gun helps to restore his manhood.
Can anyone enlighten us as to what we'd use this card for? We have the Dunwich Horror and Curse of the Dark Pharaoh expansions, but we've never seen anything in this format before.
Arkham Horror players: You can download the full-sized PDFs of all these cards on FFG's support page.
