Retro Ads: The Original Gun Club

Forget that under-supported challenge system EA set up for their first-person shooters. This is the original Gun Club, complete with clay pipes and big profits!

This is an arcade machine from 1958. Don't look too shocked, though. These compact carnival shooting galleries were incredibly popular and much easier to run than their bulky, carnie-operated cousins. My grandfather said he played something very similar to this when he served in the military. His base had one set up to keep soldiers from sneaking off into Mexico when they got bored.

As fun as shooting disappearing rabbits may be, it didn't really keep the men on this side of the border.
