Capcom has finally announced Spider-Man as a playable character in Marvel vs Capcom 3 (video after the link). Of course, there were plenty of other announcements made, including the addition of Wesker, X-23, and Tron Bonne, but nothing else will have a bigger impact on my gaming decisions over the next year than this.

Here's a snip of what GameSpot has to say:

Marvel vs Capcom series regular Spider-Man will make a return, and 'ol webhead will sport his classic red and blue costume. From the gameplay clips Capcom presented during their stage presentation, it seems Spidey will retain many of his moves from previous MvsC games, but also looks to sport some new web zip line manoeuvres that help him quickly get behind opponents.

Hopefully he will be as fun to play as he looks and sounds. In Marvel vs Capcom 2, Capcom had weakened him to the point that he was not fun.  If Capcom can hurry up and announce Ken and Blade (not even rumored to be included), this game will be perfect.

That REALLY WAS important, and shame on Activision for making such an obvious addition such a pain in the ass to acquire.  How ridiculous is that?  A Marvel-based game where you have a problem getting a Marvel character included.  The gall.
