Much like how you can safely assume that the sun will rise every morning, every year brings with it a new Madden NFL game.

Video Blips:

• EA is switching up the formula with Madden NFL 11, just a little bit, to make the game "Simpler. Quicker. Deeper." But don't worry, I'm sure the company will still make enough dough to fill up a football stadium. [GameTrailers]

Continue after the break for a developer diary on the combat of Star Wars: The Old Republic, a trailer for the multiplayer and competitive modes of Red Dead Redemption, and a hate-filled promo for Left 4 Dead 2's downloadable content: The Passing.

• After watching the stellar combat in Star Wars: The Old Republic, I'm really excited to play the game. Then I remember it's an MMORPG -- the genre I refuse to sell my soul to -- and I feel a deep sense of inner conflict. [GameTrailers]

• Some kids start games by putting their feet in a circle and use eeny-meeny-miny-moe to decide who gets to be all-time quarterback. Red Dead Redemption multiplayer games have a similar circle but use a Mexican standoff to decide who lives. [GameVideos]

• This Left 4 Dead 2: The Passing promo is surprisingly void of zombies and action. I get that they're concentrating on the old-cast-meets-the-new-cast drama, but that's not what people want to see! [GameVideos]
