(Discussion Topic) Beta Envy

Like Wii'nus Envy there are people like me who have Beta Envy. Today I will dig a little deeper to explain what I mean so others can express there thoughts as well. Now back to our schedualed Beta Envy program.

Beta envy may or may not happen to you. Really all it amounts to be is seeing your friends play a Beta version of a game your not participating in as well. Now we all know Beta games are not the true final form for most of the games that are about to come out. How ever it is also a way that companies can get better feedback on how a game is before the final product is released.

The reason I choose this was last night while playing G-Force I noticed several people on my PSN ID playing the MAG Beta. Of course there were others that were playing the WET Demo from Europe or LBP and other games. How ever I wanted to be in the Beta with them and share the experience.

So my question is to you have you ever been in envy mode for someone else who is in a Beta you wanted to be in? Also which Beta was this for?

I used to be excited about doing beta tests back before every single new game started offering one. Now that I've done probably 30+ beta tests, I stopped caring. It could also be I'm just getting more patient now that I'm in my thirties.

I have never done a beta test. For the most part, I like waiting until the full game comes out. THat being said - I was very "envious" of the Halo 3 beta.

Nowadays, for a lot of console games, it's often as simple as preordering the game or ordering another game by the same publisher.

For MMOs and some online FPS games, you usually sign up for beta testing on the website for that game. You just need to keep an eye on games news sites to see when certain games open up for beta testing.

@Lance file planet normally announces beta's like crazy some times when they appear. Section 8 Beta for PC is going on right now. As well as the Ubisoft sign ups for R.U.S.E which I posted above :)

@Toby - Perhaps not, but when I live in the same town as the developers I may have a chance of playing it before YOU do :P

@Lance - You are probly right, but if I had a passport and drove 7 hours to get there I would play it before you 8)
