GDC Photo Gallery

There's a lot  to see at this year's Game Developers Conference. This image gallery will be updated by the Bitmob staff over the course of the show. Check it out, you never know what you might see.

I've thought of no less than a dozen captions for this picture. I just can't stop coming up with ways to mock this miserable-looking dude. I fully expect some great captions from you guys in the comments section. - Aaron

I figured I'd be able to spend a few solid hours roaming the main show floor. Of course, I was under the impression that the show started today. You know, since I was told by everyone that the show started today. I'm such a fool. Anyway, here are some shots of the work-in-progress show floor. Sometimes I do a bad Wario impression while wearing an old WarioWare t-shirt. It really creeps my wife out. What's my point? Um, this is a giant column with Wario on it, and it's shocking that anyone would marry someone like me, I guess. - Aaron

Andrew McLennon from a company called Metaforic gave a speech that implored developers to be more proactive in their fight against piracy. The most interesting statistic he gave was that the average time it takes for a Nintendo DS game to be pirated is NEGATIVE three days. That means you can get almost all DS games illegally three full days before they're released in stores. - Aaron

The above figure isn't particularly surprising when you take into account the "-3 days" problem of DS piracy, but still, that's a lot of cash to lose. - Aaron

Waiting for the Sony press event to start. What will be unveiled? -Brett

It's the PlayStation Move!

I think they stole this tag line from Trojan.

After the press conference, we got to try out the Move for ourselves. Here's EyePet.

Demian gets his Move on with SOCOM 4.

Not sure what sort of motion Shoe is demonstrating in this one...

They served us gourmet gamer food.

Best surprise of the night: Metric, whose latest album I've been listening to nonstop, played a small set at a God of War 3 event. I'm not sure what a Canadian indie band has to do with a game more suited to metal, but I'm not going to complain -- I hadn't seen them live before this.

Umm I would totally love spending a weekend putting together one of those booths.  HIRE ME!!!

"Wish I could grow better facial hair..."

I have photographic evidence of international trademark troll Tim Langdell at the Kokoromi/GAMMA indie event tonight, but I can't post those pics until much later, must sleep.

"I'm lonely and I thought getting a T-shirt about GDC would make me more popular"

*Warning: Wearing GDC 2010 T-Shirts may cause loss of happiness, friends, and skin pigment.

"Dude, where's my car?"

"Oh, you only have sizes S and M left?  What a surprise."

Hahaha, great captions so far. Keep it up!

Demian, who let that jerk into the conference?!

Also, don't believe any of those "potential" monetary losses to piracy. The music industry consistently exaggerates the same numbers, and I can't imagine that video game makers are any different.

The "potential" part is the key, too -- there's no way to know that these pirates would have bought the games otherwise, which means the "potential" losses could just as easily be $0 as $925M.

I'm glad they used the "potential" word, is the crux of all the thing, every DRM implemented, every Anti-piracy scheme devised, every right resigned for an EULA is done in the name of "potential" money, because apparently is okay to hurt real customers for "potential" money
