A Left 4 Dead film seems a bit superfluous. The games are interactive action films all the way down to the paper-thin personalities of their characters. Of course, the same could be said for a film based on Final Fantasy 7....

Nevertheless, director Daniele Bellucci's commitment is to make a serious fan adaptation following the survivors from the first Left 4 Dead. Since the production's funding comes from the kindness of fellow fans, it is somewhat modest in scope. Here's a brief trailer that the cast and crew's dedication made possible.

This could just be hope whelming in my Giallo-tainted soul, but the fact that this is an Italian film project is highly encouraging. Some of the most iconic and influential zombie films came from Italian directors. For a quick reference, please see the the career of Lucio Fulci, director of Zombie.

Whatever becomes of this, Bellucci and company are off to a great start. Their choice for Francis is a bit dubious, but I think Zoey is pretty spot-on.

If you want to follow the film's progress or contribute to the effort, you can do so on the movie's site.
