Retro Ads: The Odyssey 2

A few retro consoles rarely show up at resale shops. The Odyssey 2 -- and really all Magnavox consoles -- seem to be lost to time. Thanks to The Retroist and my determination to scrounge up commercials, we can at least remember the Odyssey 2 as a weird moment in gaming history.

I've included a few videos after the jump so you can familiarize yourself with the Odyssey 2's library and output capabilities. I still think it is a neat and surprisingly proficient console for the time.

The key feature was the customizable difficulty level and occasional, level-design functions; although, the system limited the feature to a handful of games. It was a weird sight so early in the home console days -- but surprisingly prophetic.

My god.....I remember Atari (my sister had it) but not this. Probably because I wasn't born yet. ; )

I love my Odyssey 2, ever have the voice kit with it. Nothing sounds better than the robotic voice in games like KC Munchkin 2.

The videos don't show up. Could you provide the links? EDIT: nevermind, I got them from the page source.

What exactly does it mean for an 8-bit console to have the mind of a computer?
