I love the music of Final Fantasy. Probably a little too much, if I'm being honest. Fortunately, so do the marvelous musical mages at OverClocked Remix.
They've conjured up a new album, entitled Final Fantasy: Random Encounter, full of re-imagined versions of tunes from the long-running Japanese role-playing series. This album specifically focuses on the original NES and Famicom adventure.
While Final Fantasy composer Nobuo Uematsu has been rocking out with his metal/prog rock bands The Black Mages and The Earthbound Papas for years, his early material has largely stayed in the orchestral realm. But this collection takes those tunes and adds a healthy dose of heavy metal, which makes for interesting listening. At the low cost of free, you should definitely check it out.
Check after the break for a video trailer for the album.
