In this edition of Weekend Recap, swastikas get Hitler in trouble, Insomniac stops resisting, and three Liu Kangs are better than one.

Publisher Square Enix has teamed up with online merchandising company Musterbrand to bring us apparel inspired by Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Fulfilling your dream of owning game star Adam Jensen’s trench coat will only set you back $189.00. [Deus Ex Store]

NetherRealm’s Mortal Kombat (aka MK9) was a huge hit, so it makes sense for Warner Bros. Interactive to release Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection. The brutal bundle includes ports of the original Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3. Look for the game at the end of August on PSN, XBLA, and PC.

After Resistance 3, Insomniac Games will focus on other projects, leaving the Resistance franchise in Sony’s care. Remember what happened to Spyro the Dragon when it left Insomniac’s hands? Nice knowing you, Sgt. Nathan Hale.

The iOS version of id Software’s Wolfenstein 3D gets pulled from the Austrian and Swiss App Stores due to offensive imagery. Blood and guts are OK, but don’t you dare show me swastikas….

Rapper and record producer Kanye West will be performing at Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty XP convention this September. Six thousand attendees are expected at the event, and at $150 a ticket, enough money will be raised to buy Taylor Swift a new MTV Video Music Award.

Don't forget: You have less than one day to enter to win a ticket for this event! Attendees will also walk out with a copy of Modern Warfare 3 (Hardened Edition).

Ah.. MK2. The greatest in the series. Don't you think Mr. West would do the opposite and mention B3 at the event? I know what you meant, don't mind me. I really wouldn't be suprised if he did such a thing: "Hey! Yeah, MW3 is gonna rock! I'm a huge gamer and I play all kinds of games, like Battlefield and Medal of Honor!" His mic is cut off. Whoops.

-Can't wait for the fall. Awesome line-up.

Who knows what Kanye will do? He could forget where he's at and start talking about Halo. When you referred to him as Mr. West I thought of Dead Rising's Frank West. Now that would be an interesting MW3 character. After all, he has covered wars.

Samir tapped into my wildest fanboy dreams for that second pic :) I own the MK2 cabinet, but will still end up buying the Arcade Collection.

I must resist the temptation.

Hey Jason, I never asked if you liked the new MK. The story mode alone makes it worth it.

You sitting down? Take your heart medication? I don't like the new Mortal Kombat...I know, shocking :-)

I actually thought the story was the weakest element. I dug it at first, but the cheesy dialogue and lousy payoff ruined the experience for me. Then Sindel does her "thing" and all goes to hell.

MK2 (and 3) had a threadbare narrative, but it worked. Our imaginations filled in the rest. Those earlier games were all about atmosphere and tight, responsive controls.

Mortal Kombat (9) seems like a half-measure to me. It controls great, but it seems like the producer's 9-year-old son wrote the dialogue. Worst of all, in the grand tradition of Alien 3 and Star Trek 3, it undoes events of previous entries. What's that? You liked Hicks, Newt, and Bishop? Too bad...Alien 3 kills them off within 10 minutes. If you despise "revisionist history," then MK is like nails on a chalkboard.
