"Linger in Shadows? What in Odin's name is that?" you might be asking yourself as I did while browsing the PSN. I went looking for Trash Panic and found something much more special. What is Linger in Shadows? The much anticipated sequel to "Dances with Wolves?" sadly no. What it ends up being is probably one of the most underrated games ever. People bitch and moan about games like Ico but let's face the facts Shadow of the Colossus and Psychonauts are OVERRATED. Sure they didn't sell or necessarily review well but people have been and will be gushing over them forever. Linger in Shadows probably didn't sell well and to my knowledge no one knows about it. It advertises itself as "Interactive Art" and that about hits the nail on the head. I don't want to go into details to ruin the amazing experience but it's basically a really trippy animated HD short. It's beautiful and it's got pandas, droopy dogs, and kitty cats. It doesn't get much better. Now go buy the game because it's only 2.99! After you've played it please continue reading.

I bought this game on a mini shopping spree over PSN and I didn't expect much. Any game that calls itself art is trying too hard. But Linger in Shadows doesn't call itself a game so I tried it out. I bought some other Playstation Eye games too which you can hear me ramble about on my blog (http://reedbrown.blogspot.com/). Now as you know from playing the game uses all the functions of the PS3, the joysticks, the D-Pad, the buttons, and the Six Axis. My biggest problem with the game is its linearity. What I was expecting was an open world game where weird physics and objects have free roam. Sadly it's just a video with subtle manipulations with the cast. This game has so much more though.

I "beat" the game really fast and noticed that I got a lot of trophies. I went to go look at the trophies to see if I had achieved a 100%. I was barely over 50%! I looked at the other trophies and they all had question marks. Then I noticed I missed out on about half the game. Going back you can trigger many more things no matter how subtle. I once noticed how you could spin a trash can with the Six Axis and if you span it enough a symbol was on the other side. This made a strange circle pop up in the center of the screen that was partially illuminated. I dug further and noticed you could uncover more of the circle. Needless to say this is a great game and doesn't have nearly enough press. I'm no philosopher so I can't dissect the "story" or theme of this game but for those of you out there I encourage you to play and discuss in the comments below.
