A Handheld Gamecube

I enjoy the extent to which tinkerers will go to create a portable console out of something decidedly not portable. While the Gamecube did have a handle for some inexplicable reason, it was not the most mobile of devices. That changes now [via Technabob]:

Doesn't it look cool? I would totally tote one of these cumbersome objects around if it meant I could play Chibi-Robo wherever I damn well pleased. You know, the good one -- not the DS game Walmart scooped up and released in the US.

Although there is no mention of power source at technabob, it looks like it requires an AC adaptor so you probably can't play it on the move.

I actually had a portable Gamecube back in the day, thanks to third-party hardware devices. I had a 5-inch screen that strapped on top of the cube and split the AC power between the cube and screen, and a rechargeable power supply that lasted 1-1.5 hours and screwed on to the bottom of the system. I'll always remember the airport security officer who was quite surprised to find that in my carry-on...

@Michael No no... the DS is an N64. The 3DS stands to be a gamecube, if they dare.

Chibi-Robo rules!!! A portable Gamecube rules too, but not as much as Chibi-Robo.

@Jonathan -- Maybe that cord is just used to charge it?
