Borderlands - Multi-Platform Headache

So here we are, Borderlands is out on Xbox 360 and PS3 with the PC version soon to follow. Most of you have probably have already picked up a copy for your favourite console. I understand there are people who have one or the other console, but what if you have both? What if you have both consoles and a gaming PC, what then? How do you pick which system the multi-platform game such as Borderlands will be lucky enough to earn your game time? Do you choose graphics over controls? How about friends over everything else?

People who know me know I really try to push PC games. I love booting up Crysis and spending hours changing graphical settings trying to reach the optimal combination of performance and visual fidelity. So do I get Borderlands because the graphics will triumph over the other gaming systems? If I were to simply pick based on controls the PC would win hands down with the mouse and keyboard controls. What about playing with friends, that is a HUGE part of the hype for Borderlands. I have almost no friends who play hardcore PC titles. It boils down to what do I want to do, play with friends or have the best visuals and control? This is what I call a multi-platform headache. Guess you can't always have the best of both worlds.

And so continues the battle between console gamers and PC gamers...

I actually have friends on both Xbox 360 and PC. So I will end up owning it for the PC since I have Borderlands now for the Xbox 360. So my choice for which version to get for Borderlands is wherever my friends are. I like to be social when it comes to my gaming if it is at all possible. Seems like I got suckered into buying 2 copies to be honest :)
I still love this game for the PS3 myself
You see. This is why I enjoy not being a native PC gamer. I'm so uncomfortable with mouse and keyboard controls that I never even consider getting shooters on the PC first. So I don't know what i'm missing most of the time. (tis a bit of a pain playing team fortress 2 on the PC with a 360 controller just to get all those juicy new maps and class updates. but at least it only cost me 20 bucks. God bless steam.)
For me, it is all about wanting to play games on the couch, not a chair. That is the difference between PC and console gaming for me.
I think the friends having it on the console version sold me, that and the fact a buddy is selling it to me for $35. Half price for a new game? I'd be crazy not to take that deal. If anyone does get the PC version I would love to see some screen shots on maximum graphic settings to see what I'm missing out on!

Wellllllllll...... Borderlands is more of a co-op FPS than a competitive one, so go for the platform you have the most friends to play with on.

@Lance: totally agree with you on that one.  I have the same friends playing on Xbox as the PC, but the couch gives mo' comfort.

Things have shifted for me. I'm all about the console now, even though the PC dominated my late night gaming some 5 years ago.

Tommy is right, Borderlands is fun single player, but it goes to a whole other level when played co-op (especially with four people.)

Before I started writing for Bitmob, I played through the whole main game alone, and had a great time. But when the Knoxx DLC came out and Michael put up the Borderlands Player List (http://www.bitmob.com/articles/bitmob-borderlands-player-list) I discovered just how awesome this game really is.

Friends make all the difference in Borderlands' case. I'm sure the people here on Bitmob would be more than happy to play with you as well (I know I would.)
