Mission of Honor: China's military creates its answer to America's Army

In what's likely a response to the U.S. Military's recruiting game America's Army, the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) is finalizing development of Mission of Honor, a first-person shooter that's "like a simple military textbook," reports China Daily. The game is a joint project of the PLA's Nanjing command and the Wuxi Giant Interactive Group (famous for such games as...I got nothing).

According to China Daily (by way of the PLA Daily), "Even though military games were occasionally played in some military commands, the games were mostly developed by foreign countries, which may have different military values and mislead Chinese army officers and soldiers."

Based on the few released screenshots, the development budget isn't quite on par with, say, Call of Duty. What should be interesting is who the game's enemies turn out to be, fictional or otherwise. First China copies our UAVs...now our video games?

I thought it was already confirmed that the enemies in this game were American soldiers?

It would seem that the purpose of China's game differs markedly from America's Army. The latter was originally intended as a recruiting tool, but military service is compulsory in China, so China's game could serve as little more than propaganda.
