Fable 3 for the 360?

When Fable 2 was released a rumor came out that Lionhead was already working on Fable 3. The assumption at the time was that it would be released for the successor of the 360. The reason for this is that each Fable game had taken 4 years to create. But a new Fable game on the 360 would not take 4 years, for the engine and art design is already done. Another Fable game may only take 2 years, and therefore we could be seeing Fable 3 on the 360.

IGN had an article that Peter Molyneaux had at least 3 more Fable games planned. (ign)

Kotaku also had an article that suggests Fable 3 will hit sooner than expected. (kotaku)

When the last downloadable content pack came out, titled "See The Future", most assumed it was going to give us a glimpse of the next Fable. It sort of did this (I won't spoil it for you), but left more questions than answers. The question I have is:

Are we going to see Fable 3 on 360, and will it be shown/previewed THIS E3?

I can't remember where I read it, but I am pretty sure Lionhead will be announcing something at the MS Press Conference today.

I think we might see another fable 3 this generation of consoles, but I would extremely surprised to hear anything this year. Fable 2 is still pretty fresh having only come out last year and as we all know, Lionhead is notorious for having long development cycles.

Something I've noticed about game development is that when it comes to making sequels, developers often start by using the same engine, but end up having to create a whole new engine. Of course this is absolutly not always the case, but again, this is Lionhead we're talking about. Peter Molyneux often has ambitious idea's. His next idea might be too ambitious for the current engine.

But I could be way off the mark. oh, and it should be noted that I havent downloaded the DLC yet... dont know if that makes my opinion nil. :P

But Lionhead has a large team and the two Brothers who were in charge of Fable and Fable 2, I forget their names, could be tackling the third without Molyneaux's direction.
Although I agree with JOHN that it most likely will not be announced this E3..

But maybe it will? :o

God, I want this press conference to be over already, just to put my hopes and dreams to rest. :D

I just hope Molyneaux doesn't blabber on about how he plans to change the way video games will be played. It's great to have ambitions, but when you screw-up on things as simple as a co-op camera you should probably rethink your approach. Besides, Fable 2 felt like a huge step back from the first Fable.

@Michael - I totally agree. Fable 2 had innovations from Fable, but the things they innovated I did not really even like...except the combat

Yeah, I wouldn't get my hopes up. While putting in my two cents, I'd prefer seeing Fable 3 on the next generation of Xbox consoles.

Sorry Lance, but really they should wait till next E3 to announce another Fable just IMO. Right now there are major titles coming out later this year. Focus really doesn't need to be on lionhead studios.

New and better DLC can be announced I am all for that.
