I'm a little late on this month's top 10, but thanks to Andrew Hiscock (himself a familiar face in the top 10), I now have the 10 most-read community submissions from the month of February.

Did you make the cut? There's only one way to find out!

10) The Not-So-Secret History of Video Game Peripherals -- Jeffrey Michael Grubb

9) Breaking Mafia Wars: Casual Gaming Meets Hardcore Gamer -- Sam
Bardelson

8) BioShock 2 Review PS3 -- Michael Wenzel

7)  Five Time Wasters That Are Worse Than Playing Video Games -- Brian Shirk

6) Dudebro II: The Birth of a Meme and How NeoGAF Began Its First Video Game -- Andrew Hiscock

Hit the jump for the rest of the top 10

5) Final Fantasy X: A Flawed Masterpiece -- Trevor Hinkle

4) Where Would We Be without Gears of War? -- Jon Porter

3) Top Five Black Video Game Characters that deserve their own Game! -- Juan Letona

2) Why I Never Want to Play Mass Effect 2 Again -- Jeff Parsons

1) Top 5 Ways to Kill the Fun of Gaming -- Jeffrey Michael Grubb

We might have to change this monthly feature to "Jeffrey Michael Grubb's Most-Read Submissions" if this keeps up. Nice work, Jeff! Congratulations to everyone who made this list, and "thank you" to everyone who participates in the community. We wouldn't be here with out you.

If you didn’t make the list and you’re wondering how you can draw more eyes to your work, here are three tips that should help:

Format your articles: (small paragraphs and pictures go a long way)

Encourage comments: (ask your readers to share their opinions)

Promote your work: (share your links via Twitter, Facebook, message boards, N4G.com, Digg, Reddit, and Buzz)

Would it be possible to post where these hits came from? I'm really happy to see my Gears piece get so much attention, but I'm curious just to know where all those readers came from.

Jon: Your story hit 560 degrees on N4G.com, so it's likely that most of your hits came from there. http://www.n4g.com/pc/News-476830.aspx

Ahh, Aaron beat me to it. I was going to spew some wise-assery and say something like "they came from the Internet."

I would like to note that my story was not 'front paged'

Take that!

Thanks Aaron.  My personal motivation for posts on bitmob is to be 'front paged' .

Thanks for putting these together, Aaron. It's fascinating to see what stuff gets the most eyeballs.

Community: I challenge you to cut down on the lists for April. Way too many of those in this month's Top 10.

I would like to point out, my list was time appropriate.  Black History Month and Top Five Black Video Game Characters go hand in hand.  Right?

So, what does it mean when you get front-paged often but rarely break 500 hits? :P  Does that mean that the editors like you, but nobody else does? I can live with that.

"Community: I challenge you to cut down on the lists for April. Way too many of those in this month's Top 10."

What's that Jason? The list has too many lists? :)

I have to say that I actually prefer lists when I read things on the Internet, unless the article is ~400 words or less. It just makes it much easier to read and gather the main points. I generally don't feel like staring intensely at my monitor for too long at text. My how I miss print.

Bitmob Collection Vol. 1 is coming out in June right?

I recommend writing articles about NeoGAF. All my articles about them have gotten major hits.

(Also be nice, they will kill you).

I sympathize with Jordan Vincent. Even though I write fairly in depth and long articles, actually reading them kills me. I once read a ten page Gama Sutra article about Civilization and my brain nearly exploded.

But I do wonder whether the contents of a potential list article can be diverted to something with a more cohesive structure....

Then again, sometimes nothing but a list will do.

One suggestion, regarding my "reworking lists" suggestion would be concerning Jeff 10th place article (not to take anything from the article, because it was great!), but if you were to present it as a timeline, in chronological order... Kind of a list, but different (the organization itself has meaning), without changing the actual content.
