I have been craving a lot of the new games coming out this Christmas season, but craving even more the games that I am still waiting for and have been waiting years and years for. Games that I actually dream about, some that have been released but in Japan or the arcades only, or some that still need a sequel and a real finish to the epic story and just some games that would really benefit from a remake. This is my list, you may not agree with some, but overall I covered all my bases of gaming.
What are some of your choices? I would really like to hear from you. Thank you.
Shenmue 3: Even though Shenmue on Dreamcast did not become the financial or even the critical success Sega had hoped for, nor Shenmue 2 for that matter... it didn't stop the series from garnering some of the most hardcore videogame fans with rabid, beserk like determination to never, ever give up on Yu Suzuki's dream and most importantly of all... Ryo Hazuki's revenge for his fathers death.
Shenmue Online was announced, then cancelled. Now the franchise is literally dead to Sega, or at least it might as well. They could turn a profit from it after all though, all while giving us Shenmue 3. It's simple, with the age of Digital Downloads of games like for XBLA and PSN, simply have Shenmue 1 and 2 in a digital collection available for download to allow new gamers to enjoy the amazing adventure. Build up some hype for the series in this new era of gaming. Fuck... I still believe.
Rave Racer: Most of you all know about the Ridge Racer series and have more than likely played most of them. However, who the fuck got to enjoy Rave Racer and it's amazing courses and drift mechanics? Maybe 2 out of everyone that has read this has. Sad, very sad Namco. It's not just another Ridge Racer game because besides the poorly done Ridge Racer 6 and 7 and how much alike they are, every other Ridge Racer game has been very different from the one before, mainly in the handling and drifting mechanics. I'll spare you the details and not berate your knowledge of videogames and think that you know exactly what I am talking about. Rave Raver has some of the best courses too, and the remade ones in Ridge Racers (PSP) and 6/7 are pretty much useless and feel too different. How hard would it honestly be to bring this out for XBLA/PSN? Namco are ugly, ugly people.

VF vs Tekken: Often rumored after the success of Capcom vs SNK, Sega and Namco released a few ads and PR shots promoting each others franchise in a way that would make you believe they are indeed working on VF vs Tekken... this was in like, 2002? So, grain of salt don't fail me now...
Some moronic idiots may argue that a VF vs Tekken game could never work based on vastly different gameplay mechanics, but a true gamer, especially a fighting game enthusiast like ME!!!!... would know that it could work and be a fucking beautiful thing. Here's how...
Obviously there are actually some similarities between the two series including combos, juggles, unblockables, 8 way movement blah blah blah. However one might seem to move and require faster reaction than the other, and these same asswipes will also argue that Devil Jin's laser shot would be too cheap against a VF character blah blah... use a fucking ounce of your shitty brain and think for a second.
They would create a totally new game featuring characters from both series and make a new fighting engine just for this game alone. This system would allow for all characters included to have most of if not all their move list in tact with minor changes to some moves. It would not be hard at all to adjust the mechanics and game system to benefit both styles of play, heck you could even do a Capcom/SNK groove thing like Capcom did. Anyways, this would be the cats meow if done right and would sell MILLIONS of copies!!
Xenogears Remake/ReRelease: Nobody got to truly appreciate this, which is in the top 10 of best RPG's of all time. It came out after FF7 and around FF8 and other big hitters that it kind of got left behind. It never got the attention it deserved, plus the game was a lot more challenging than FF7 etc, so it turned a lot of casual RPG gamers away.
If you actually spent time with Xenogears, you would come away with appreciating the richly, deep storyline and amazing Mech fights as well as a unique and fresh (at least for the time) battle system. To this day though, the one thing that does not quite hold up are the graphics and actually even some of the art itself.
Square should really remake this as it has a chance to be fresh and new again to so many people and then they could turn to Xenosaga after wards. The storyline and characters are alone make this game so worth it. You really take something away from it when it's all said and done. Kicks religion in the nuts a few times in a way, I like that :)
Street Fighter Alpha 4: To be oh so blunt... Street Fighter 4 sucks huge amounts of Zebra ass. I can't stand the fact that it's 3d and worst of all I have a major turn off towards the art style Capcom went with. Super cartoony looking, goofy ass eyes and disgustingly lame new characters and horrible backgrounds. Please... don't even get me started on the exciting new fighting mechanics... it's like taking all that was deep and exciting about Third Strike and even Alpha 3 and scaling back 3 games in the franchise and going back to Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo with a dash of Third Strike, which is actually criminal and the developers at Capcom are actually awaiting trial to begin on there stupid asses.
Anyways, a 2D, HD SFA4, complete with every single character from Alpha 3 and some new ones would be the only way to save the series from the downfall it has launched itself into thanks to SF4. Think of how amazing it would look in 2D hd. Just look at BlazBlue or I guess... though it's a BIG I GUESS... KOFXII. It can be done and it can look amazing. Too bad SF4 sold so well.
Thanks for reading and letting me waste your time, till next time...
I remain,
Whippin Sean
