Recently, we had the opportunity to get some hands-on time with Gameloft's latest pint-sized offering, Citizen Kane Mobile. How did we like it? Let's just say that after our demo, we cried a little. Read on for more impressions.

In Citizen Kane Mobile, you control a young Charles Foster Kane as he zips through a winter wonderland on his favorite sled, Rosebud. Our demo pitted us against the nefarious Jimmy Gettys to win a coveted prize: a kiss from Kane's secret crush, Suzy Alexander. But before we could cross the finish line, we had to speed through gravity-defying loops and land monster jumps that would make even Evel Knievel nervous.

Gameloft reps then showed us a robust track editor. Although touch-screen interaction is available on phones with that capability, we were able to use a standard numeric keypad to create a pretty wicked level that ends with a leap over an old-timey steamboat moored in a lake. We called it "Remember the Maine!"

Now, we admit: We're as surprised as you that gaming's Citizen Kane turned out to be a casual title. But you know what? It's really darn fun to play.

And it softens a place in our heart we thought had hardened over long ago. In our youth, we participated in the American Sledding Championship Circuit until an unfortunate incident banned us from the ASCC for life. Since then, we've been waiting for a sledding game to recapture the magic we felt sliding down the innocent slopes of our childhood.

This is that game. As we guided little Kane to victory, we were seized with a powerful nostalgia, and a single, joyful tear traveled down our cheek before landing on the cell phone's tiny screen. We can't offer a higher recommendation than that.

Citizen Kane Mobile will be available in August exclusively on Verizon Wireless.

The games previewed in Intermissions may or may not exist. But we sure wish they did. Believe at your own risk.

This game should be made. That description was great. Just add Calvin and Hobs and subtract Kane.
