Oh ancient gods of Tamriel, why did you let me find the Halloween candy? Damn you all...I hope I wiped all of the barf off of these Blips. Sorry about the smell.
News Blips:
Ubisoft is already working on next-generation Xbox games. Edge is reporting that Ubisoft Montreal has “target boxes.” These faux Xbox 720s are built with Microsoft-approved components that fall in line with the projected specifications. Official development kits will supposedly be in third-party hands by the end of the year. That is, the end of this year, which is in about 45 days. Given this new development, maybe the Wii U won’t be the only big launch in 2012.
A “major Sony-owned studio” is done with PlayStation 3 development and is now focused on PlayStation 4. In that same article, Edge also had this bit about one of Sony’s key subsidiaries, but we don’t know which. Only a handful of “Sony-owned” developers can be considered “major,” and apparently this one helped developed a key graphics technology for the new hardware. Based on that information, I think it’s likely that it’s Killzone developer Guerrilla Games...or maybe it’s Team Ico, and The Last Guardian never really existed.
Bethesda sold approximately 3.5 million copies of Skyrim in 48 hours. Retailers sold through over half of the 7 million copies they received, so naturally the team responsible is treating itself to a piping hot cup of PR gloating. “The eagerly awaited title has garnered more than 50 perfect review scores, earning praise from some of the industry’s most influential and respected critics,” the company wrote in its press release. The fifth game in the franchise is expected to make $450 million, which isn’t bad for what is essentially (at least for me) a game about stealing people’s cutlery.

A meaty patch is in the works for Elder Scrolls 5. Bethesda’s head of public relations, Pete Hines, confirmed via Twitter that the team is “continuing work on an update for all platforms.” Hines also said that the team will fix what they can, but the process “takes a while.” Sifting through boring code will probably be even tougher now that everyone in Bethesda has access to the company money pool.
