Costly cat burglars, tiny plastic guns, and talkative aliens. Is it Chuck Testa? Nope, it's the News Blips.

News Blips:

You'll need a new game copy or an online pass to play as Gotham's resident crazy cat lady in Batman: Arkham City. Publisher Warner Bros. told Eurogamer that "players who purchase previously owned copies of Arkham City can access the playable Catwoman content for £7.99 ($12) or 800 Microsoft Points." Holy content compartmentalization, Batman! The game launches on October 18 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The 10th-anniversary edition of Grand Theft Auto 3 crashes its car into select mobile devices this fall, and it includes a $150 Claude doll. The iPad 2, iPhone 4S, Samsung Galaxy S2, and Asus Iconia are some of the supported devices; GameSpot has the full list. Those who splurge on the action figure will reap quality features such as a miniature arsenal of weapon accessories, a prison jumpsuit, and "real zippers." Is it too late to hope for "actual pockets"? Be still my heart....

Mass Effect 3 apparently teems with over 40,000 lines of spoken dialogue. In a tweet response to a fan's question, ME3 audio lead Rob Blake revealed the gargantuan number, dwarfing both Mass Effect's and Mass Effect 2's initial scripts combined -- 20,000 and 25,000 lines, respectively. Blake later clarified in a separate tweet that he's "not sure how many lines there are" in the upcoming science-fiction RPG, comparing the amount recorded thus far with ME2's final script tally of 40,000 lines that encompasses all DLC content. No word yet on the fraction size of the script reserved for Shepard's rejections at bars and dance clubs. Mass Effect 3 comes out on March 6, 2012 for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Team Fortress 2's user-content Mann Co. Store sticks its first candle in its birthday cake. The celebration heralds the arrival of the Steam Workshop, a refined submission process for item forgers to test and track the success of their creations. Updates to the game's cosmetic system arrived as well, including 30 new hats, loadout presets, and multiple miscellaneous item slots. And finally, my favorite Engineer spot on Gorge is no more. Alas.

I wonder if this means that Mass Effect 3 will have two or three discs-worth of content. The first Mass Effect already had quite a lot of dialogue packed into one disc.

I would say you are an idiot not to buy Batman new and support Rocksteady for recreating/redefining Batman into something that is simply a masterpiece.

Brandon, a lot of people feel that it's not the consumer's prerogative to "support" the industry. The consumers' primary concern is no different than the publishers': the bottom line. And lest we forget, the secondary market cannot exist without new game sales.

And please keep all debates civil. Calling those you disagree with an "idiot" won't win any converts nor does it contribute to reasonable debate.
