Smell that? It's not quite Teen Spirit. The scent is a bit closer to sacrilege.

News Blips:

Kurt Cobain Guitar Hero 5

Courtney Love, the two surviving members of Nirvana, and Love's attorney have come out against the use of Kurt Cobain's likeness to perform non-Nirvana songs in Guitar Hero 5. They have gone on to request that his game character be "re-locked," limiting him to only songs by Nirvana. Wait, so does this mean we won't get to play as Cobain pantomiming Kryptonite by 3 Doors Down? Refund! [Kotaku]

Daft Punk the Video Game! Well, kind of. The mysterious and particularly selective French duo are crafting 11 exclusive mixes for DJ Hero and are lending their disguises and set designs to the game as well. Put it on Xbox Natal and throw in the Daft Hands and we're sold! [RollingStone]

Nintendo is sticking to their guns..err, firearms. Activision's Brand Manager Jeff Muench explained to Game Informer that family-friendly Nintendo is requiring that the orange, shotgun-shaped accessory included with Big Game Hunter 2010 not be labeled as a "gun" by Activision, but rather a "firearm". What other gun synonyms can we think of? Gat, piece, blaster, boom-stick... [GameInformer]

Sony might be catching on that an affordable console equals more customers. The sales of the first week of the $299 price drop were up 300% compared to the previous week. Imagine that! [gameindustry.biz]

Courtney, Dave, and Krist can suck on a pickle, for they should have never let Kurt be in the game in the first place. Now that there is a HUGE backlash, they are trying to backpeddle. Although, I would rather have Kurt in the game than Courtney Love!!! EW!!! :P

Lance, according to Rolling Stone, only Love, Grohl, and Primary Wave Publishing were needed to get Cobain in the game, which seems to suggest that Novaselic had nothing to do with this.
Indeed, securing the proper approvals was no small feat. Not only did Cobain’s widow Courtney Love have to sign off on behalf of the estate, so did former drummer Dave Grohl and Primary Wave Publishing, which administers the Nirvana catalog. “There’s a lot of moving parts to something like this,” Riley explains. “But it was about timing, not an issue of resistance. We almost did it for World Tour, but we couldn’t get it together. Then after three years of working with the different parties, it was like the perfect storm.”
