EDITOR'S NOTEfrom Demian Linn

Please welcome Brad Muir to the Bitmob community -- he's only the project lead on developer Double Fine's upcoming game Trenched! Here, Brad delves into the thought and design process behind Trenched's hilarious mock magazine covers.

And hey, developers -- especially you indies -- if you've got something cool about your game that you'd like to share with the world, post it!

Titan's Digest

This cover shows off a small victory of the Mobile Trench Brigade over Vlad’s Movision hordes. Drinking was an important part of being a man’s man in the '50s, and we wanted to capture that here.

"Pirates took my cat" is probably my favorite article heading in the entire set.

Gristle for Men

Gristle is pretty much the best name for a magazine ever. It's both manly and disgusting...but mostly manly. This cover depicts the Mobile Trench Brigade's entrance to northern Africa after the European leg of the campaign.

Ryan and his team work up in Seattle at Microsoft, so they took several opportunities to put in references to the Pacific Northwest into the magazine headlines. Super awesome. I really like the "Brothel Islands of Puget Sound."

Our UI artist, Luke Nalker, really took the men's magazine concept and ran with it, injecting it into all aspects of the game. The entire look and feel of the UI throughout the game has this same pulpy feel to it. He also did our opening title screen that captures the style perfectly.

I’m super excited for people to play Trenched when it finally makes its way onto XBLA this year. We’ll have a release date soon!

This is hilarious stuff. Danger Monthly makes Electronic Gaming Monthly seem so...kiddie now. That's the next place I'm going to attempt to work as an editor at. (Think they need editors?)

Welcome to Bitmob, Brad. Go Blue!

This is beyond incredible. Tim's face is classic.

Don't forget to credit Tim's legs, too. They gave up a lot to make this art happen.

I would like to take this time to have a moment of silence for Tim Schafer. He gave his heart, his soul, his LEGS for this country. Or some country, I can't make out the flag he's holding. Maybe it was a bet he lost, I dunno. Y'know what, let's just have a moment of silence for Tim Schafer in general. He deserves at least that much.

Ok, now that we've shown our respect through silence, where's the snack bar?

You have to watch sofas. They support us during our best times and our worst times but as soon as they sense too much weakness BAM, crippled.

Not that Tim Schafer would know anything about weakness so that sofa must have been deperate and hungry for anything.

Love the art! Don't suppose you guys would sell any of these as posters?

Holy shit, that's brilliant. I would be so ready to throw some cash at these. I can see these framed above my computer already.

I would gladly serve time in the trenches if it meant a pair of giant prosthetic legs. Where do I sign up?
