The Vectrex is my absolute favorite console. Its crisp vector graphics pushed it far ahead of the competition in the early '80s. Unfortunately, its display is black and white unless you apply colored plastic screens to the built-in monitor.

Internet comedian Stuart Ashen takes an extensive look at the Vectrex and clumsily fumbles around in the dark to show how bad the plastic overlays really are.

I remember those games fondly; I loved my Vectrex growing up! Also, Star Ship was called Star Trek in the U.S., so that's why the ships look Klingon.

If you search around the web, you can find an active homebrew scene for the system, too.

My favorite thing about the vectrex was that it didnt monopolize the TV. My roomates were not gamers and wouldn't let me use the tv to game. Also it was a great arcade machine, i never bothered with the colored overlays.
