2003: Disgaea: Hour of Darkness is released in Japan.

1998: Microsoft publishes Urban Assault for the PC. It combined first-person action with real-time strategy. Curiously, it was recalled a few years later but Microsoft never explained why.
2006: Resident Evil 4 is reissued under Nintendo's Player's Choice label. While it's great that the game was re-released, collectors worldwide hate it when developers slap extra labels on their boxes.

2000: Sega releases Spawn: In the Demon's Hand in North American arcades -- all two of them.
2005: American musician Beck released an EP featuring remixes from his album Guero. The remixes were done with chiptunes, and the EP was featured in Nintendo Power.

Every Year: Some punk groundhog sees his shadow.
1994: Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is released.

1997: Japanese game developer iNiS is founded. They're the creative minds behind Elite Beat Agents and Gitaroo Man.
2005: Bethesda and Take-Two announced their agreement to share publishing rights of Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion.
2009: Crytek purchased British game developer Free Radical Design. They are best known for the TimeSplitters series.

2000: The original Sims is released and met with an unprecedented amount of success.

1943: Nolan Kay Bushnell is born. Bushnell is the founder of Atari and less-known as the founder of Chuck E. Cheese.
