In 1953, Portal 2's Aperture Science was founded as a shower curtain manufacturer. After a deadly exposure to mercury, founder Cave Johnson changed tacks to producing portable quantum space-hole generators, saying, "Why not marry safe science if you love it so much?" Thanks, mercury!

Video Blips:

• Portal 2's Long Drop Boots are the perfect solution for those susceptible to hurling themselves off of tall precipices. Be sure to check out its built-in aerial cartwheel motivator and chic off-white color scheme.

Continue after the break for a Gears of War 3 developer diary, a tricky flying lizard problem in the medieval Dragon's Dogma, and how being "god touched" in Asura's Wrath doesn't work out so well.

• Members of Epic Games describe the painstaking amount of polish poured into Gears of War 3's multiplayer. As a self-proclaimed connoisseur of outlandish color swatches, I'm glad the pink Lancer is more accessible now.

• Dragon's Dogma starkly indicates that medieval society will never exist without some sort of fantastical bestiary. It also requires a token mad wizard, last-of-his-kind embittered dragon, and a perpetually befuddled-looking hero.

• Remember this guy from Asura's Wrath? Yep, he's still extremely angry at everything. I'm sure the last straw was seeing "Galactic Hindu god poked you!" on his Facebook page.
