Want to Review Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising for Bitmob?

Update: We have a winner! Congratulations to Matthew Mason. He's the lucky winner of Operation Flashpoint. Matthew, I want that review on my desk at 0900 hours next Monday!

Also, congrats to Craig Getting, Cory Mann, and Tony DaSilva. These runners-up will be receiving some Operation Flashpoint-related goodies courtesy of Codemasters.

Bitmob HQ recently received the 360 version of shooter Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising, and we want to pass it on to one lucky Bitmob reader.

Here's the catch: If you win it, you're going to have to write about it.

During my early look at Operation Flashpoint, the game's Hardcore difficulty mode fascinated me. No HUD, no checkpoints -- just raw, realistic combat. Check out this video to see what I mean:

We want to hear about your own experiences with Hardcore mode. If you win the game, play it on Hardcore and tell us all about it on Bitmob. Don't worry about attaching a number to your "review"; we're more interested in your unique take on the game.

When you finish your story, we'll polish it up and feature it right here on the front page.

To enter, leave a comment below pinky swearing that you'll write the story for us. The usual Bitmob rules apply, so Canadians, you'll have to pay for shipping.

We'll randomly pick one of you and announce the winner next week.

Good luck!

There's no way in hell i WOULDN'T write a review for you guys if you sent that game to me. In fact, I've tried in the past to see if you guys needed any free lance writing help, but have gotten no response. So an opportunity to actually write something would be bad ass. Seriously hoping you pick me.

I would really love a chance to write about hardcore mode. I've been very curious about Flashpoint and would relish the opportunity to sink my teeth into a fps.

I'm ready to be tortured by Hardcore mode where the enemy can one shot kill you. I will also gladly keep a blog about my experience from which I will summarize into a review.

Consider this a promise, pinkied. In fact, I think it's fair to say that I, like Matthew above, would garnish more pleasure from writing the review than receiving the free game (though free games are the easily-professed pinnacle of awesome).

I tried playing Killzone 2 on its hardest level and you haven't met a challenge until you experience a drop. With there being so many games that are taxing to the mind, body and fingers when playing these titles to the maximum level, I would gladly accept your challenge to play Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising. To be able to write about its hardcore mode and compare it to some of the insane levels I've been able to play this year, it'd cap off my "End of 2009 Video Game Celebration," right! (I pinky swear to write the review!)

Hmm, I'd like to try this. I've played Ghost Recon since its inception, and this game is very much like the first game.

Operation Flashpoint, even on Normal, promises some pretty hellish realism. I can't even imagine what Hardcore would be like. And I'm up for the challenge. Pinkie sworn!

Fond memories of crawling around in the woods in Ghost Recon have me somewhat interested in this game. It seems daunting, but I'd give it a fair shake.

I already reviewed this game... but haven't put my toes in on hardcore yet. I am a sissy! I mainly played co-op and single player, but I really liked what I did play. Here is a link to my review though. http://bitmob.com/index.php/mobfeed/operation-flashpoint-2-dragon-rising-review.html I can't wait to hear what other Bitmobbers have to say about this game. If you want someone to play this online send me a message on Xbox Live- my screen name is Valor79.

I'm in. Right up my ally, because I play all shooters on the hardest difficulty, and then I nearly always play the unlocked difficulty (time -- due to lack of new gaming -- permitting). Some people plow through games on the easiest setting, and I have never understood why. Beating HALO3 on Legendary and COD4 on veteran difficulty were two of the most rewarding gaming experiences I have ever had. That ferris wheel sequence still haunts me in my dreams...

BTW- I love the idea of making someone write about a game if they are going to be given away. You guys should do this for every giveaway.

One more post... sorry. I just wanted to let you know that I still have my copy and was just commenting, not entering. I am stoked to hear what more folks have to say about this game!

I would love to give that a shot. It's a game I wouldn't normally even try due to financial constraints but has a certain sort of intrest to me as a video game shooter nerd. I would love to see exactly what hardcore mode is about and see if it really delivers on being a good experience on top of it's realism. I feel like I would probably end up being picky and judgemental over it though. Depends on what sort of article people want to read about the game. Do you want to read about what it did right or what it did wrong?

@Jeffrey: It's less about what we want to read and more about what you want to write. You can be praising or critical, as long as you remember to be fair to the game (no cheap shots) and honest to yourself. If you do that, then the story will be something the rest of us will want to read.

If selected, I'd play and review the game in the most hardcore way I know - in the nude. That's what you meant by "hardcore," right? (I'm serious, by the way. Imagine the anecdotes about my roommates walking in and getting Flashpointed!)

I'm in, provided the review can contain fart jokes. If you call your game Operation Flashpoint it only seems fair.

I've wanted to review games since I picked up my very first game magazine. Back then, I figured there would never be such a thing as a freelance game reviewer because it would be impossible get a timely review without sending out pre-release code. Thanks to the information age, my dream can finally come true! It's the least the information age can do for me since it killed my dream of writing for a game mag. ;)

This would make a very interesting review - as most games are played through on default settings in order to get a sense of what the majority of people will experience. I'll be very interested in writing this(cross-my heart and hope to die, stick a sharp needle in my eye . . .), but reading the eventual review will be fun too!

Oh, you're better off picking someone other than me, because I'm terrible at FPS games. But since it's a random drawing, I pinky swear I'll write my take on the game. I can't refuse the opportunity.

I got a chance to play the game and it left me wanting more. Opportunistic moments like this can't really be passed down. I'll probably still buy the game if I don't win, if I have the money.

@brett based off of what I have heard I would see myself going into hardcore mode and trying to parse out where the line between challenging and punishing is drawn with the game. The fact that the entire game's difficulty is entirely based off of removing assists from the player rather then making unkillable cheap enemies seems like an interesting new frontier for shooter design. I could just see about....1000 ways it could potentially go wrong. It's a very interesting situation game design wise.

I'd love to write this review. I've played numerous first person shooters, both on console and on PC. Co-op also looks interesting to me, especially for a hardcore shooter like Operation Flashpoint. Please pick me Bitmob!

I didn't have the opportunity to read through all of the comments, but is this only for the XBOX 360 version? If there is a PS3 version then I am all about it, and would gladly write a review for it. However, if it's only a 360 version I can't. Let me know!

I'll give this game a shot and review it. I've been looking for something to take me out of my element and move into a slightly different genre. Sometimes it's fun to try something new and interesting for the first time, even if it's like learning to swim by being thrown off a peer.
