Fit for the Holidays

Here's something that caught my eye this weekend: workers in downtown San Francisco busily putting the finishing touches on a holiday store promoting EA Sports Active.

Now, I've seen plenty of temporary storefronts over the years, but I've never seen one devoted to a single video game. Looks like EA is hoping Active will be a must-have gift this holiday season.

Have any EA Sports Active stores popped up near you?

Which empty storefront is this in, Brett? I assume it's around Union Square, but I can't tell from the photo.

It's on Stockton between Ellis and O'Farrell, a few storefronts down from the Apple Store.

How strange....

I don't see any Nintendo branding in your picture, but I gotta think Nintendo would get on this as well. A legit exercise game being marketed to the general public like this -- helps sell Wiis just as much as it does EA Sports Active.

They're still moving the temporary Halloween stores out here in the ATL.
I imagine this would be pretty popular for the '09 holiday season considering the amount of vacant retail space available for cheap, seasonal occupancy.

I have never heard of anyone doing this type of promotion before. It's kind of cool!

@Travis: Yeah, downtown SF is littered with empty storefronts. Even if it's only temporary, this will be good for the city!

Maybe it's actually a gym.
