It's really hard to explain to someone under the age of 30 the importance of the old PC game developer Sierra On-Line. It's a safe bet that not many gamers under the age of 30 have played any of the eight games in the King's Quest series; the first was the precursor to great titles like Monkey Island and every other point-and-click adventure game ever made.

A company named Phoenix Online has been working on the new "not allowed to be called King's Quest" sequel for almost a decade. After finally getting the rights from Activision (the owners of the franchise name), King Graham's epic struggle to save his children should finally see the light of day on July 10. The preview looks like a dream come true for fans of adventure games that took skill, intelligence, and a buttload of patience to complete.

Check out the official site for details as we creep up on the release date. Now, if only someone could make a decent Leisure Suit Larry game....

Wow.  I had heard about it once or twice over the ages, but its awesome that they now have the rights.  Hope it is for Mac too.  King's Quest VI (1991) was my first (and only till 2001) PC game.  Its a shame I can't figure out how to get it to run on machines that aren't Windows 3.1.

Also, if you want to get another king's Quest fix, check out AGD Interactive http://www.agdinteractive.com/ They have remade King's Quest 1 & 2 to look (and sound) like their latter 2D brethren.  They are also free and permitted by Activision.

Makes me want to play some more...oh wait, a demon guy lured me close enough to get shot by a cupid statue.  Hope I saved recently.
