Mario Mushrooms and Boba Tea

Continuing an unofficial series of random gaming-related stuff found around San Francisco, I wanted to put up a quick post about what I came across the other week.

After an enjoyable night in the Fillmore district, my girlfriend and I decided to finish the night with some bubble tea (a unique drink that, I might add, I never knew existed until I moved out here).

Imagine my surprise, then, when I saw the poster to the right (excuse the quality -- I took it with a camera phone) immediately upon entering. Wait a sec...was this some Nintendo product? Nope. On their menu, they had some crispy mushrooms. I don't know who to feel worse for -- the close-but-not-quite-authentic Mario or the about-to-be-devoured mushrooms, who seem to delight in the fact that they are soon to become someone's snack.

And that wasn't it. Hit the jump for the other gaming poster in the same store.

Now this second poster is far more common, and I like it for a couple reasons: 1) It's continuing the trend of gaming-related concerts, which is cool, and 2) the San Francisco Symphony and Arts Commission find music from the Final Fantasy series to be worthy of covering. Seems like kinda a big deal, huh? (Also, that's this upcoming Saturday for those of you in town).

But what do you all think...is San Francisco indeed the gateway to some Captain N-esque game world? We've seen Mr. Bubbles painted on walls, vintage pinball machines in a hotel, and pixelated people -- and that's just in the past couple months. Maybe we're all just part of one big game....

I've been to that place. The strawberry/banana snow is like what Rachel Ray would say, "Yummo!"

I love bubble tea, and I didn't know anything about it until I married an Asian-American gal! Sadly, bubble tea doesn't love me back....

Dude, bubble tea is gross. I don't want to suddenly find balls in my mouth when I'm trying to enjoy a refreshing beverage!

And I love that you're also covering the strange nexus of game life and real life here in SF. It's really pretty eerie when you start to look closely at it.

I love balls in my mouth. The more, the better. Soft and chewy. Mmmm. Delicious.
