Today's topic is about old games cause to some of y'all old is now becoming new again.  So with my age I can say I have seen a lot, but I know people like Jason Wilson has seen more then I.  Now lets start the discussion.

Yesterday I spent the day with my daughter who turned five years old.  So after waking her up about 10 am we kicked off the day of gaming with some Little Big Planet.  She literally woke up and said can I play it.  I put it on for her in my bedroom and she begins to play with other people. (No I wont give her a mic)

After awhile I go into the living room and I take my wife's 360 and put on Kameo.  Just had this sudden urge to play something that was old on the 360.  This just happens to be of the games I owned when I had a 360 on day one.  Over all I was sucked back in.  However my daughter came in and wanted to play this fairy girl.  After she found out the transforming of powers in to the different things she was hooked.

So this got me thinking about old games from my past that I would like to play right now.  Stuff like Duck Tales or even Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers comes to my mind first.  What games do you find old that you want to play again?

I am desperately waiting for the Xbox Live Arcade port of Perfect Dark right now. Although I have played some Perfect Dark Source and Goleneye Source in the interim.

Duck Tales, Chip & Dale Rescue Rangers, and Darkwing Duck were such good platformers back on the NES.

Breath of Fire. I have been longing for Breath of Fire for weeks now.

But my usual urge is plaything through Gemfire. Since I still have a cart, the only Gemfire cart i've ever seen, I can cautiously pop it in and play. I live in fear of the save battery dying.

Toby, you love to write "y'all" in all of your posts, don't you? ;)

I would love to find the arcade cabinet of Hard Driving. Back in the day that was a really cool game.

I wouldn't mind playing airborne rangers again on the C64.

there was also another game where you could play co-op. You played as a soldier and could get on a tank (I think the colours of the player 1 was blue and player 2 was red) I can't remember the name of that game though!

the third game I'd like to play is Taipai on the Amiga. it was essentially a trading game where you owned a ship and sailed between three cities (i think it was three) selling goods and contraband etc. Occasionally you might get caught by police or attacked by pirates.

ITs was pretty cool fun!

Oh, one last one - I remember gunbship on the C64 aswell, I use to play that all the time - I stil remember ride of the valkyrie being playes as the front screen loaded! and Mechwarroirs on the Pc (my god the list can go on forever!)

I'll stop there ;)

The original Bard's Tale series and the original X-Wing and Tie Fighter games would top my list.

Hey! What the hell is wrong with "Y'all"?
On the subject, I just recently(two weeks ago) finished playing Dragon Quest 3(SNES with translation) on an emulator. I like to play old games every now and then to give me a point of reference for why I still game as much as I do. Loved it, by the way.

@Jay You can still play X-Wing and TIE Fighter -- the Windows 95 versions work (need a patch for the visuals, but that's available). I play them every now and then still.

@Jason - The last time I owned a copy of either of those, they were on 3.5" floppy disks and I played them on my 486 computer.

Toby, you finally typed your article on a word processor! To answer the question, I still enjoy going back to play Sonic 2.

@Philip Actually I didn't type on a word processor today. I just didn't type in the dark like I normally do. 8)

@Lance - Ain't nothing wrong with the word Y'all being used. :P

I'm a huge fan of old games. I recently bought Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection for 360, and have been playing Sonic 2, Sonic Spinball and Streets of Rage 2.

I'm also playing the first Xenosaga (PS2). It's definitely old, but not "old school," I think.

I'd really like to play some more of the R-Type games for SNES too. I just beat Super R-Type and loved it.

@Toby- I thought you were British. The y'all thing would help you fit in down here in Georgia.

Also, second on Duck Tales and Chip and Dale. Awesome games.

I've submitted a track from this game for next week's juke box, but I'm a big fan of Courier Crisis for the PS1. In fact, I'm probably the only fan.

@Brian Mario RPG & Earthbound are awesome no matter what time of year. You do know about the Earthbound get together every year right? If not you should google it :) or I will send you a link tomorrow.

@Toby- Actually, no I haven't heard of this get-together. Is is something put on by Starman.net? I looked on google and came across all these weird unrelated links, but maybe I can find it if I look a bit more. That's awesome that they hold an annual event whatever it is. Now I'm dying to play Earthbound again.
