I went out a few minutes ago to buy crack bread, and I noticed a bunch of people milling around outside the GameStop in the Westlake Shopping Center just a few miles outside of San Francisco.

At first I thought they had beaten me to the crack bread and were going to buy it all and not leave me any (again), but, being a top-notch game journalist I figured out that they were waiting for the midnight launch of Modern Warfare 2.

I approached the guys and said, "GameStop doesn't sell a damn thing to someone without a pre-order on launch day, so you guys obviously have pre-orders, right?" They all nodded. "But the store isn't going to open until midnight, and you're guaranteed a copy... yet you're still here three hours early, even though you really have nothing to gain by doing so?" They nodded again.

I'm getting old.
