Maybe it's better to recognize actual veterans this Veterans Day than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 couch veterans, huh?

News Blips:

Modern Warfare 2 sold 1.23 million copies on day one in the UK, taking the record for most units sold in a day there. The previous record holder was Grand Theft Auto 4 which shipped some 631,000 copies. Sales of Modern Warfare 2 are shaping up to be considerably ginormous this holiday season. Apparently real war is unpopular, but digital war is all the rage? [1UP]

As many as 600,000 Xbox Live users were banned earlier this month for using modified systems. We reported earlier that around Halloween, Microsoft had banned a "small percentage" of modded consoles, now online reports are giving a better idea of how many that was. The consoles are still said to work, they're just unable to access Xbox Live. [BBC]

A Scottish hotel has banned gaming for a "few days" in its establishment this holiday season. Citing gaming not falling in line with "traditional family values," the hotel wishes for youngsters to try new activities "which they may never have tried before." In other words, they're saying stop playing those damn video games and go bake sugar cookies with grandma. [Destructoid]

Audio Surf: Tilt is now available for free on Zune HD. As part of the 4.3 firmware update, six new games are now available free of charge on Microsoft's portable, you just have to watch a commercial before playing. The only hard part now is finding someone who has a Zune HD. [Joystiq]
