Happy Halloween history enthusiasts! Unfortunately whenever this holiday falls on a Sunday, many people refuse to celebrate it properly. This means we should just call it Nolan North day and play any of the games he voices a character in.
October 31
1970: Nolan North is born. You've likely heard his voice in a game recently if you've played Quantum Theory, Uncharted, Shadow Complex, and Trauma Team.
2007: Nintendo discontinues support for the NES, SNES, Game Boy, and N64. Take another gander at the year all of this took place. I wish I'd known about this back then because I would have requested service on my NES the day before just to hear their response.
November 1
1993: Shadowrun is released on the SNES. A year later, a completely different game sharing the title launches on the Genesis.
November 2
2000: Self-described psychic Uri Geller attempted to sue Nintendo for £60 million, claiming that the Pokemon Kadabra was based on him. Geller is known for his ability to bend spoons with psychokinesis. The case was thrown out of court. James Randi, a former magician and founder of the One Million Dollar Paranormal Challenge, challenged Geller's abilities and said he was a charlatan. Geller retaliated with a lawsuit but lost miserably.
2004: Killzone hit the shelves.
November 3
1962: Gabe Newell is born. After working for Microsoft for 13 years, Newell left the company and founded Valve with Mike Harrington.
November 4
1994: Double Dragon the movie opens in theaters. Someone you know likely paid money to see it.
2002: Ratchet & Clank dazzle with their ridiculous weaponry when the first game is released on the PlayStation 2.
November 5
1995: GameFAQs starts up just in time to same an entire generation of gamers from wandering aimlessly forever. Walkthroughs are that important -- even the atrociously long ones.
1995: Twisted Metal debuts on the PlayStation.
November 6
2003: Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is released. Back then, I didn't think vertical platforming could get any more intense. Then Nathan Drake climbed a goddamn doom machine in Uncharted 2.
