Without giving anything away, you do explicitly play the Abrahamic God (with a capital "G") in the Japanese version. Nintendo watered it down to "The Master" and removed the explicit Christian references in the North American release.

As a kid, I thought "The Master" was a god, like, the God. I can see why Nintendo altered the game.

The only other one that comes to mind is Tira in Soul Calibur 3, I think. I'm usually too distracted by the underboob so I can't be definitive.
